We exist to spark wonder through visual discovery. Curio is a platform dedicated to celebrating the beauty, complexity, and endless variety of patterns found in art, nature, and design.
Curio was born in the autumn of 2024 in a small studio overlooking Edinburgh's Royal Mile. What started as a personal collection of captivating visual patterns quickly grew into something much larger.
Our founder noticed a gap between the worlds of art, science, and design. Patterns were everywhere -- in Islamic geometry, in fractal mathematics, in textile traditions spanning centuries -- yet there was no single place to explore, learn about, and share them.
So Curio was created: a living gallery and learning hub where curious minds come together to discover the visual threads that connect cultures, disciplines, and the natural world.
We believe that curiosity is the starting point for all creativity. Everything we do centres around three core pillars.
Uncover mesmerising patterns from across the globe. From ancient mosaics to generative algorithms, we curate a constantly growing gallery of visual wonder.
Understand the history, mathematics, and techniques behind every pattern. Our resources turn casual observers into informed enthusiasts.
Contribute your own discoveries. Curio thrives on its community of artists, designers, scientists, and pattern lovers sharing their finds with the world.
A small but passionate group of designers, developers, and pattern enthusiasts based in Edinburgh.

The principles that guide everything we create and curate at Curio.
We believe every great discovery starts with a question. We encourage exploration without boundaries and reward the courage to look deeper.
Patterns transcend borders, languages, and cultures. Our platform is built to welcome every perspective and every tradition.
Every piece in our gallery is carefully reviewed and contextualised. We value depth of understanding over sheer volume.
Learning should be accessible to everyone. We share resources freely and champion open collaboration across disciplines.
